Logitech MX Keypad brings a $99.99 AI shortcut pad to developer desks

Nine LCD keys, USB-C and Logi Options+ profiles target VS Code, IntelliJ and Copilot workflows; Gadgeteer says buy only if you repeat the same commands daily.

Logitech’s MX Keypad is a compact wired shortcut console aimed at developers who juggle IDEs, terminals and AI coding agents, priced at US$99.99 on the official Logitech product page.

Introduced Sept. 8, 2026, the pad packs nine full-colour LCD keys that can show custom labels and switch layouts by active app. Logitech says it worked with GitHub and its MX Collective community and highlights native hooks for Visual Studio Code, IntelliJ IDEA, the GitHub Copilot app, plus Logi Marketplace plugins for Claude Code and OpenAI Codex. A Oct. 3 Gadgeteer hands-on by Rei Padla describes a 96-gram USB-C device (no Bluetooth or Logi Bolt listed) that needs Logi Options+ on Windows 10+ or macOS 13+, with an Actions SDK for custom integrations. AI features still need internet accounts and third-party subscriptions; Logitech also advertises three free months of GitHub Copilot Pro+ through Options+, subject to promo terms.

Gadgeteer’s take: labeled keys help when you repeat a few high-friction actions often enough to forget shortcuts but not often enough to memorize them — open a terminal, launch tests, trigger a saved prompt — and are less useful if you already live on muscle-memory hotkeys, need wireless gear, or want dozens of commands visible at once like a streaming console. Compatible apps also include Zoom, Slack, Spotify, Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud on Logitech’s claim list; buyers should verify Marketplace plugins for their exact tools.
