Apple's "Welcome Home" event is today: what to expect from the HomeView hub, HomePod mini and Apple TV
Apple is expected to make its first new product-category push in years at 9 a.m. ET — but almost everything about it is still rumor.

Apple holds its private "Welcome Home" product experience in Tribeca, New York, today at 9 a.m. ET — and the company has confirmed almost nothing about it beyond marketing chief Greg Joswiak's teaser.
Reporting, mainly from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman via MacRumors, points to an all-new smart-home hub reportedly named HomeView as the headline act: an A18 chip, 8GB of RAM, Siri as the primary interface with touch support but no App Store, in two versions — a countertop model with a metal speaker base and a flat wall-mount square — shipping around mid-November. An estimated price of about $350 is unconfirmed.
Also expected: a HomePod mini 2 (faster chip, new colors) and a new Apple TV 4K (faster chip, more RAM, revised Siri Remote with a speaker), both reportedly shipping Oct. 30. Apple is also said to be launching an "Apple Home Collection" of accessories with LG and Schneider Electric toward year-end. The Apple TV's exact chip differs between reports (A19 vs A19 Pro).
No public livestream is expected — watch for Apple Newsroom press releases and YouTube videos instead. A second event around Oct. 27, rumored for Macs and an OLED iPad mini, remains unconfirmed.
For Canadians: Apple Canada pricing and availability will follow today's announcement. With Google Nest and Amazon Echo entrenched in Canadian smart homes, Apple has to win over households that already picked a side — and today's news feeds directly into holiday buying-guide season.
