MOUNTAIN VIEW / TORONTO — Google made Gemini 4 Argon available worldwide on Oct. 13 for developers, enterprises and paying Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, including in Canada, iPhone in Canada reported.
In a Google DeepMind blog post, SVP and chief AI architect Koray Kavukcuoglu said Argon is built for complex coding, finance, legal, cybersecurity and scientific work, and ranks first on the Vals Index of professional-task benchmarks. Everyday users need a Pro or Ultra subscription; no free consumer tier was announced.
Introductory Gemini API pricing is US$2 per million input tokens and US$10 per million output tokens (cached input at a steep discount), rising to US$4 and US$20 after Nov. 30, 2026. The model supports a unified 1-million-token context window via the API, Google said.
Argon ships in the Gemini app and AI Mode in Search for Pro and Ultra subscribers, in Google Antigravity for Ultra users, and for enterprises through Gemini for business and the API. Separately, The Verge reported Google is embedding Antigravity’s agentic coding interface in the Gemini Mac app for AI Ultra subscribers.
Google said internal teams used Argon to speed large Chromium refactors, cut Agent Development Kit overhead, and accelerate open-source quantum-chemistry and Gemma inference work. Cybersecurity firm Wiz used early access to help find and fix vulnerabilities affecting government and healthcare systems, the company wrote.
On safety, Google said Argon cut successful indirect prompt-injection attacks to 0.7 per cent across 15 adaptive attempts on the Gray Swan benchmark in its testing, and that jailbreak and misuse defences were strengthened under its Frontier Safety Framework. It is also offering 10,000 scientists the highest Antigravity usage tier free for six months, subject to eligibility.
Feature availability varies by product, region and subscription. Canadian readers accessing Argon through Google’s consumer apps will need an active AI Pro or Ultra plan at Google’s posted rates; API billing is in U.S. dollars as listed by Google.
