Raytheon wins up to US$20.7-billion AMRAAM production deal
RTX’s missile unit will ramp air-to-air weapons under the Pentagon’s Arsenal of Freedom push.

Raytheon, an RTX business, said Monday it has been awarded a multi-year contract valued at up to US$20.7 billion to accelerate production of AMRAAM air-to-air missiles for the U.S. Department of War and allied customers.
The agreement covers five base years plus two option years and follows an earlier landmark deal aimed at annual output of at least 1,900 missiles. Raytheon said it nearly doubled AMRAAM production in 2025 versus 2024 and is investing in workforce, facilities and a supplier base of hundreds of small and mid-sized firms, with international co-production under study. AMRAAM, now in its fifth generation, flies on 14 platforms, is fielded by 44 countries and also serves as the primary interceptor for the NASAMS ground-based air-defence system.
Reuters and other outlets noted the full multi-year commitment still depends on Congress appropriating funds. Stockpile pressure after wars in Ukraine and the Middle East has made munitions throughput a boardroom and ballot-box issue. For Canadian suppliers in aerospace and precision manufacturing, larger U.S. multi-year buys often ripple through cross-border contracts even when Ottawa is not the end customer.
