Russia Renews Ballistic Assault on Kyiv as Ukraine Hits Russian Depots

Published: September 29, 2026 · Updated: September 30, 2026 · 1 min read

Russia launched a fresh ballistic-missile attack on Kyiv early Tuesday, hours after day-long strikes killed two people and injured 26 across the Ukrainian capital, Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko and emergency services said.

Between Monday evening and Tuesday morning, Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia fired a Zircon/Onyx anti-ship missile, two Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles and 152 attack drones, including jet-powered Shaheds. Defences shot down or suppressed 109 targets. Debris and strikes damaged residential and non-residential buildings; the State Emergency Service reported one person injured overnight and 10 evacuated from a Holosiivskyi district apartment block. Monday’s toll included three injured children.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukrainian long-range strikes hit two defence plants in Russia’s Tula and Voronezh regions and that Security Service units struck oil facilities in Krasnodar Krai. Russia’s Defence Ministry said air defences intercepted dozens of Ukrainian drones overnight; local officials reported civilian deaths in the Moscow Region from a fire after a drone attack—accounts Ukraine frames as responses to strikes on its cities.
