Sony’s most expensive wireless headphones are getting a warmer recommendation from TechRadar after dropping to their lowest U.S. price yet, while Canadian buyers can already find a $100 cut on Sony’s own store. In a TechRadar write-up published Monday, senior writer Harry Padoan said the Sony 1000X The Collexion combines an “ultra-expansive” soundstage, capable active noise cancellation and a luxury finish he framed as Sony’s answer to Apple’s AirPods Max 2 — with the EQ, LDAC and DSEE Ultimate Bluetooth codecs, multipoint connection and class-leading touch controls that Apple’s over-ears leave out.

Padoan reviewed the Collexion earlier in 2026 and said the steep asking price had kept him from recommending them regularly. An early Amazon Prime Big Deal Days offer now lists them at US$598, down from US$649.99, and £474 in the United Kingdom, down from £549. “At their lowest-ever price, they’re all too easy for me to recommend,” he wrote, arguing Android users who cannot lean on iOS-only Max features should especially look twice.

On sound, he credited balanced response across the range — impactful, dynamic bass, rich intricate mids and expressive treble — plus fine detail when LDAC is on or a wired connection is used. Noise cancellation stayed “impressive” even with a relatively relaxed fit, whether on public transit or in an office, with transparency available by covering the right earcup or pressing a button. Build and comfort scored as high as the audio: metal details, faux-leather exterior and plush cups made them among the most comfortable headphones he has worn for hours without breaks.

Canadian pricing sits above the U.S. flash deal but below the original list. The black WH-1000XX on the Sony Canada store showed a sale price of $749.99 against an original $849.99 when checked Monday morning ET, with free shipping and delivery estimates for Oct. 6–7. Shoppers should still treat Amazon Canada, Best Buy Canada and other banners as live prices that can move during autumn sale windows, and should note that TechRadar’s US$598 figure is a United States Amazon offer, not a Canadian shelf price.

A hands-on Best Buy Canada Blog review by Rae Chen, published in June and marked as created in collaboration with Sony, likewise praised how quiet the cans make the room, the 360 Upmix spatial modes and Adaptive Sound Control in the Sound Connect app. Chen described bespoke drivers, QN3 and V3 processors with a dozen microphones for real-time cancellation, up to 24 hours of battery life and a five-minute charge said to restore about 1.5 hours of listening. Gesture, button and even head-nod call controls are part of the package.

Chen’s practical takeaway matches TechRadar’s hierarchy: the WH-1000XM6 remains an excellent everyday flagship, while The Collexion is the luxury step-up in hinges, materials and presentation rather than a completely different sonic personality. Buyers chasing maximum noise cancellation per dollar may still prefer the XM6 on sale; buyers who want the expansive staging, vegan-leather finish and full adaptive feature set are the Collexion’s audience — especially when either the Canadian $100 cut or the deeper U.S. deal is live.

Padoan also used the deal post to steer thriftier shoppers toward discounted previous-generation Sonys in the same sale window, including deep cuts on the WH-1000XM5 in the U.K. and older bass-forward models in the U.S., while keeping The Collexion as the pick when design, expansive staging and the full feature stack matter more than shaving another couple of hundred dollars. That framing mirrors how many Canadian buyers will weigh a $749.99 Collexion against a cheaper XM6 during the same autumn promotions.
